Early news for May 2011

Appliance brand Rangemaster now has its own page on social media networking site Facebook. The personalised page allows fans to post recipes, hints and tips, plus kitchen stories. In addition, the page will also keep fans up-to-date on Rangemaster news and events.

Adam Furniture has launched a website for each of its brands, to give access to brochures and information on each of them. Its bathroom furniture can be found on www.apollobathroomfurniture.co.uk, and its Aspects and Cheap as Chips ranges can be found on www.aspectskitchenfurniture.co.uk and www.cheapaschipskitchens.co.uk

Hoping to raise £20,000 for WaterAid, organiser of kbbLondon and kbbBirmingham UBM Live is calling on the industry to support its fund-raising events. WaterAid is a charity working in 26 countries across Africa, Asia and Pacific regions to provide sanitation and hygiene. Launching the campaign at kbbLondon, it hopes to reach its target by kbb Birmingham in 2012.

Designed for efficient use of wall space, Moods Bathrooms has launched the Reflection radiator. Reflection provides room heat and a bathroom mirror, measures 500 x 1800m and boasts a matt Black, curved edge. Suitable for connection to a central heating system, the radiator is tested to the EN442 standard and comes complete with a three-year guarantee.

Sensio Lighting has launched the HD LED 24V Square Surface light, featuring a slimline design to sit under cabinets. The light boasts Sensio’s higher definition technology and runs at 1.25W, whilst emitting the equivalent light output to a 20W halogen. Measuring 65 x 65 x 6mm, the light has a square fascia and is finished in Satin Chrome.

Schulter Systems has introduced a drainage system for the construction of floor level showers. The Schuiten Kerdi-Shower is a modular system that offers an assembly height of 100mm. The system has a pre-sloped surface, which is available in a choice of four slope boards. lt also includes a waterproofing set, a floor drain and a base leveling panel.

Adding to its range of shower-baths, Artweger has introduced Twinline 2 to its offering, which is available in the UK from   Twinline 2 offers a bath and shower in one, with a deep tub and a straight glass door The shower door is operated from standing, with waste activated by a mechanical locking mechanism.

HiB has introduced three LED illuminated mirrors to its portfolio, which are powered by a long-life rechargeable battery. The six-cell battery pack has between a 30-35 hour life under normal circumstances, according to HiB, and can be recharged up to 1000 times. The pack slides out of a slot in the side of the mirror and is charged using a remote unit.

Adding to its Elements range of frameless shower enclosures, Aquaplus Solutions, has launched a patterned glass offering. MESH is available in white, black and grey and can be specified to cover the entire panel, orjust the middle section. Four shower trays have also been introduced to the Elements range including Freedom and Purity.

BC Designs has added the freestanding Waterdrop tub to its Slimm range of baths. The Waterdrop is manufactured from liquid acrylic resin reinforced with fibre glass and volcanic ash, intended to provide maximum strength. Measuring 1910 x 505 x 830mm, the bath is designed with smooth contours and a large bathing area.

Croydex has introduced Kingston, a collection of bathroom accessories manufactured from solid wood with glass, chrome and ceramic elements. The range comprises of a soap dish, free-standing mirror; towel rail and toilet roll holder: A tumbler and holder, shelf and tumbler plus waste bin are also available to co- ordinate with the Kingston bath panel, cabinet and toilet seat.

Adding to its collection of bathroom products, Svedburgs has launched the Bianca range, which includes a vanity unit, tall cabinet, basin and round mirror.  Delivered pre-assembled, the vanity unit and tall cabinets are available in three colours; Cherry Red, Slate Grey and White. Bianca vanity units are also available in three sizes of 600, 900 and 1200mm.

Duravit has introduced invisible fixings to some of its wall-mounted toilets. The Starck 3, part of the Starck 3 bathroom collection designed by Philippe Starck, and Architec, designed by Professor Fran Husten both feature the fittings. The wall-mounted toilets boast minimal lines for a contemporary look and include optional soft-close lids with stainless steel hinges.

Bali. a modular furniture range, has been launched by Shades Bathrooms. The range features a vanity unit with a deep integrated basin and storage space underneath, separate wall-hung single cabinets and a mirrored cabinet. Bali has a truffle brown, textured grain finish with a choice of handles, chrome brassware and lighting. lt can be mixed and matched and comes with a lifetime guarantee.

Alfa Essential, a white free standing bathtub, has been launched by Aquaplus Solutions. Manufactured from Scene, a material considered by Aquaplus as highly durable, the Alfa Essential comes in two sizes of 1640 x 760mm and 1420 x 1550mm. The bathtub also comes with a complementary freestanding platform, which is available in three _ designs and complementary brassware.

Bathroom manufacturer Jacuzzi has launched Darcy, a roll top bath to add to its bathroom collections. Darcy is manufactured from 5mm reinforced acrylic, with a ROK filled flat-top rim and is designed to be a balance between traditional and contemporary bath models. Measuring 1700 x 750 x 632mm, the bath is available with a choice of white or chrome claw feet.

Slovenian appliance manufacturer Gorenje has published a brochure for its Gorenje by Karim Rashid design line. The A4 brochure features lifestyle photography, as well as technical details and product specifications, to assist retailers and consumers in the sales process. The brochure covers all the products featured in the collection, including hoods, hobs and ovens.

Trainer for the kitchen and bathroom industry, Graham Hayden has announced details of two courses, aimed at improving staff skills and increasing profitable company sales. Understanding and using body language to your advantage’, takes place on January 19, while ‘Presentation skills using ‘inner game’ techniques takes place on March 16. Award-winning kitchen designer Diane Berry, of Diane Berry Kitchens in Manchester, has represented the UK in Alno’s first showcase of international design trends. She was one of six international designers to create a kitchen reflective of her nation’s interior trends, culture and lifestyle. The concept was launched at the Corso Internationale exhibition in Germany, alongside kitchens created by designers from ltaly, France, Norway, USA and Taiwan.

Ripples bathroom showrooms are holding a Christmas Draw to win a £150 Harvey Nichols Hamper in aid of charity, Whatever the need. The UK charity provides composting toilets to those without sanitation. Tickets are £5 each and Ripples is hoping to raise £22,000, which will be invested in the village of Arasur in India. The draw will take place in each showroom on December 16, 2010.

Earle & Ginger best kitchen retailer in north:

Metris dealer Earle & Ginger of Manchester scooped the award for Best Kitchen Retailer at the Northern Design Awards, held at the Grosvenor Hotel in Chester.

Organised by publisher of Concept for Living magazine, a homes and garden title for the North, the awards recognise the design industry. The award was judged on the quality of product offering, together with the company’s customer service. Partner at Earle & Gingen Vincent Bentham said: “We were delighted to be shortlisted for two categories and overjoyed when we won the Best Kitchen Retailer award.

Our latest collection, Metris has really elevated our portfolio. As the exclusive Metris dealer in the Didsbury area, the premium,  contemporary collection is right up there with the top German and Italian brands. “To beat names such as Stuart Frazen, Clive Christian, Warendorfand, Harvey Jones demonstrates how highly regarded our company is becoming in the North of England. Searle & Taylor opens EWE training centre:

Following the launch of Ewe and Intuo by Ewe into the UK, its agent Searle & Taylor has refitted its Hampshire studio. It has created the largest UK showroom and dealer training centre for the Austrian furniture brands.

The 3,000sq ft showroom features four displays for the premium Intuo collection and a further four displays are dedicated to the EWE ranges. ln addition, a further four displays highlight Searle & Taylor’s traditional kitchen offer which includes handmade and bespoke solid wood designs.

Director of Searle & Taylor, Jeff Searle commented: “In less than a year, we have over 20 dealers stocking the Intuo and Ewe ranges nationwide, and an increasing level of interest in the brands from consumers.  We felt that the time was right to dedicate more space to these stunning kitchens in order to showcase them in our showroom, and to offer an ideal location for dealer training in the UK”.

Extending its Sargasso range of furniture, has now introduced a white option in a painted satin finish. Sargasso features solid timber frames with veneered centre panels and a random knotting and varying grain structure. In addition to the latest white finish, the furniture also comes in Walnut and Light Oak.

Adding to its Premium Collection, Victoria & Albert has launched a classic bath design called Toulouse. The first traditional design to be added to the otherwise contemporary collection, it has been inspired by French double-ended bateaux baths and is manufactured from Quarrycast. Toulouse measures 1815mm x 800mm and features a streamlined, built-in overflow.

Utopia bathrooms has extended its Quantum Square range of sanitaryware with the launch of a short projection, semi-recessed basin. lt has a space-saving depth of 350mm, with a width of 550mm. The basin has been designed to complement its core range of fitted furniture and the fitted options with the Timber Collection.

The Beyond collection of bathtubs and shower cabins from is now available in the UK through J’n'J Distributors. Beyond Bath measures 1850mm x 1090mm and is available in white or black, in a choice of matt or gloss finishes. lt can be used for a variety of installation options, including freestanding, cornen wall-mounted or niche, and can be customised with the consumers choice of cladding.

Adding to its O-Cean range of bathroom brassware, Kludi has introduced a joystick basin mixer. The lever controls both water flow and temperature, with the tap using up to eight litres of water. The lever design picks up on the rounded shape ofthe tap body to set a contrast in modern bathrooms.

Lakes Bathrooms has added a range of 8mm walk-in enclosures to its Italia Collection. There are five walk-in models in the range to suit free-standing, alcove, corner and wetroom installations. Measuring 1950mm, the enclosures range from 1000 x750mm to 1600 x 1000mm.

Kaldewei now offers its floorglevel shower trays in a range of colours matched to the latest trends in tiling. The Co-ordinated Colours Collection boasts seven matt decors, adding to the sanitaryware colours already available. Kaldewei has over 50 floor level shower trays, which are all manufactured from enamelled steel.

Extending its Aruba fitted furniture range, Roper Rhodes has introduced a dark walnut finish. It adds to the existing decors of light walnut, oak, birch, and white gloss finishes. In addition, the slab door range now also includes a 600mm wide double door floor and wall cupboards.

Mira Showers has introduced three fascias to its Galena electric shower; which include light stone, silver glass and black flock-patterned glass. The shower features a five-spay position shower head and comes with separate power and flow/temperature controls, plus a push button start/ stop. Galena boasts Sensi-flo which maintains water temperature to +/-2°C, Clearscale to reduce limescale build-up and . delayed shutdown to flush hot water from the tank.
