Mira settles legal action over copy

Kohler Mira has announced an out-of-court settlement has been reached in an action against Triton Showers – for design infringements of the Mira Azora and Galena showers. As a consequence of the settlement, Triton is required to withdraw all versions – whether branded or own-branded for retailers – of its Inscriptions shower from the market by the end of March, 2011. ln addition, Triton must also pay the legal costs of Kohler Mira.

Dave Hill, managing director of Mira Showers, said: “Each year, Mira Showers invest significantly in intellectual property and new product development. We cannot and will not allow our investments to be misappropriated through infringement.” He continued: “Our customers trust Mira to develop and manufacture high- quality products backed by our substantial research, development and investment. “Customers choose our products because of our technical expertise, product innovation and specification support, which over many years has made us a trusted brand name. “Consequently, it should not be underestimated as to how aggressively we will seek to enforce our intellectual property rights in the market in which we operate.”
