Kitchen Door Workshop has announced the appointment of Greg Clark to the position of TradeZone manager. Clark has worked for the company for four years, gaining experience in customer sales and service, deliveries and warehouse management. In his new role, he will be responsible for managing TradeZone and its five-strong sales team.
Distributor of heating, plumbing and bathroom products F&P Wholesale has apoointed Fraser Vincent as account manager. Vincent will be responsible for the North-East and Central areas of Scotland working with the branch managers at the Tyne Tunnel and Wishaw distribution centres. In his new role, Vincent will work with the team to develop the company’s product offer and grow customer relationships.
US home interest magazine, California Home & Design has compiled a bucket list of ‘places to pee before you die’, which includes the WC in The Shard.
Situated on the 68th floor of West Europe’s tallest building, the public conveniences include the Geberit Duofix framing system and Sigma50 flush pate and offers 40-mile views of London.
Other top contenders on the bucket list of the world’s top toilets include the bulletproof bathroom in Beijing, the ladies washroom on the sixth floor of Macy’s in San Franscisco, the oneway glass toilet in Texas, the Vice Versa hotel in Paris and Seoul’s Ice Gallery bathroom, which a toilet cast from solid ice.
Bathroom shower and accessories manufacturer Croydex has won the sixth annual Homebase golf day.
A total of 176 players took part in the event at the Marquess and Dukes championship golf course in Woburn, Bedfordshire raising £46,000 for charity.
Entertainment was provided by a comedian and an eight-piece gospel choir, as well as an auction, raffle and dinner in the evening.
Croydex managing director Nick McGrellis said: “It was a fantastic day for evetyone to get together, play golf and help raise the huge
sum of money for charity”.
The next Homebase golf day will take place on July 10, 2014 at Woburn.
Renee Mascari, CEO of the National Training Group has announced the qualification Principles of Kitchen Design has been accepted by Ofqal.
The development of this qualification has been sponsored by the KBSA who have supported the NTG from its inception.
Mascari commented: “This industiy specific qualification has taken a long time to develop and I sincerely hope that our industiy will respond by taking up the courses offering this qualification”. The development of this qualification has been achieved with the support of the KBSA, whose CEO Graham Ball said: “This is another big step forward for the industry, as design has become a key element in today’s marketplace, and will become more important in the coming years”.
Following its animated video, explaining the benefits of buying a kitchen from an independent retailer, Second Nature has now released a song and video.
Members of the company’s design and marketing department have created an original song, with lyrics following the process from looking for ideas, through to storage options.

The team not only wrote the music and lyrics but also created and produced the video footage in-house.

PWS has released a suite of marketing initatives for its consumer-facing Second Nature website, including the original video animation, the Moodboard app and online real kitchen of the month.
Due to the expansion of The 1810 Company, the undermount kitchen sink specialist, is relocating to offices and warehousing in Mold, North Wales.
The move will give a four fold increase in warehousing space and, due to logisitic improvements, will allow for a 16:00 order cut-off time for next day deliveries. In addition it will provide office space and room for a trade showroom.
Managing director of The 1810 Company, Gareth Williams said: “Due to continued expansion and year-on-year sales increase, the move to new premises will allow us to increase our stock holding further to meet the demand, especially from the new build sector in London.
The Gorenje Group, which includes Gorenje and ATAG, was recognised for five of its products at this year’s Red Dot Design Awards.The Gorenje brand scooped two awards for its Aerogor heat pump and the SensoCare NGPS12 washing machine. While, three awards were won by ATAG for its Puzello and Magna gas hobs and the ATAG induction hob with matte finish.
UK distributor for Showerlux, Ideal Bathrooms has targeted installers to reinforce awareness of the shower enclosure brand with a Cashback campaign. The £100 campaign is supported through point of sale and a dedicated microsite. It runs until December 31.
Kitchen appliance supplier Britannia Living will be taking its largest-ever stand at the Grand Designs Live show in Birmingham at the NEC from October 4-6. The company will be showcasing its recently refreshed collection of Britannia range cookers, spanning its four product families; Delphi, Fleet, Q Line and Wyre. These will be joined by a selection of products from the Bertazonni and Best brands.
Vogue (UK) is set to exhibit at the Independent Hotel Show at Olympia in London from October 30-31. Targeting the hotel sector, it will be introducing specifiers and designers to its Integral Collection. Also on display will be a selection of its compact towel warmer racks.
