Ex-managing director of tc bathrooms Martin Chalcraft has formed distribution company Pangea Bathrooms with former marketing manager of tc bathrooms Lee Reed and ex-director of Colourwash, Graham Wood.
The distribution company has warehouses in London and Yorkshire, giving the company the ability to cover the whole of the UK and provides sanitaryware, baths, furniture, heating, brassware and accessories.
MD Martin Chalcraft said: “Having worked in the bathroom industry alongside retailers for over twenty years, we recognise the needs and the concerns of today’s independent retailers. We’ve priced our products in a way retailers can maintain healthy margins and inevitably make more profit, whilst ensuring that our product will not be represented by the industry’s internet discounters.”
Co-inciding with the company launch, Pangea Bathrooms has launched a website, which features ArtiCAD’s MyRoomPlan for visitors to design their own bathroom and has published a complementary brochure.
Household appliance brands Fagor and Haier have joined forces to open a refrigeration factory in Poland, in a deal worth €56m.
The annual production capacity at the site, which is owned 51% by Haier and 49% by Fagor, is forecast to reach 500,000 units, rising to 1 million within five years.
Research and development teams of both companies will combine efforts on premium and high-end product, supply chain costs will be optimised through the mutual sourcing of raw materials.
This deal will enable Chinese manufacturer Haier to strengthen its position in Europe and is also part of the 2013-2016 growth plan of the Spanish company Fagor.
Haier will be bringing its research and development, production and marketing closer to its sales territories. Its facilities now include a research and development centre in Nuremberg, Germany, manufacturing in Poland, and marketing teams in its European headquarters in Paris.
In total, Haier has five research and development centres, 61 trading companies and 21 industrial parks with 80,000 employees worldwide.

Abode has announced all of its sinks conform to the recent CE mark that came into mandatory effect. The CE mark will be displayed on all sinks, packaging and fitting instructions, prior to dispatch to customers.
Worktop manufacturer Bushboard has announced the promotion of Shashi Patel from technical product development manager to the newly-created position of technical director. Patel has worked for the company since 1978 and has worked his way up through the ranks. He is said to have been a key member of the team in developing the Encore and M-Stone ranges.
Expanding its marketing team, range cooker brand Leisure has appointed Amanda Selby as brand manager. Selby previously worked as assistant brand manager for Brown-Forman and was brand manager for Russian Standard Vodka. In her new role, she will be responsible for consumer-facing advertising digital, PR and a range of targeted comrrunication activities to drive the brand.
Shower tray manufacturer JT has exponded its team with the appointment of an operations director. Paul Hoigh joins the company with experience from Hallmark Cards, Linpac Packaging ana Unilever. In his new role, Haigh will be responsible for the efficient delivery of products, as well as driving business forward in new product development and manufacturing.
InSinkErator has announced the appointment of Kevin Carr to UK sales manager and Elaine Mead to contracts manager UK. Carr will be responsible for the UK sales team, developing new business and exploring opportunities in existing markets. Slovenian appliance manufacturer Gorenje has announcec the appointment of Stuart Benson as national sales manager. Benson will be responsible for six regional sales managers, as well as driving sales activity across Gorenje and ATAG brands in the UK and Ireland. He has worked in the kitchen industry for 27 years, most recent for CDA
Matthew Houghton has joined ECF as regional sales manager for its new bathroom division, assisting with sales and development of the company’s bathroom furniture range. Houghton will be responsible for the Southern region and joins the company from JJO, where he worked for five years. He has previously held positions at Villeroy & Boch and Intertex Marketing Associates.
Appliance manufacturer Floover Candy has introduced Rachel Sinclair as product manager for its freestanding division. She joins from a company in the fermentation industry, where she held a position of head of sales and marketing. In her new role, Sinclair wili be responsible for introducing new products, as well as working with trade marketing to deliver products into the marketplace.
Saniflo has announced the appointment of Ann Boardman to customer service and marketing manager Boardman brings with her 20 years’ marketing experience, with 15 years from the industry having previously worked at Croydex, Damixa and NewTeam.
